Renewal Design
This design proposal conducts an urban renewal design for Macau's Ma Kok Waterfront District. It includes a comprehensive assessment of both the district as a whole and individual structures, followed by value-based prioritization and contextual analysis. Based on these evaluations, the proposal establishes planning positioning and implements functional reconfiguration for the district. Additionally, a new district visitor center will be constructed on one designated plot, serving to consolidate the cultural and historical heritage assets throughout the Ma Kok Waterfront District.
  • Ma Kok Waterfront District Heritage Value Evaluation Framework A detailed survey of the Ma Kok Waterfront District was conducted, performing granular heritage value assessments for both the district holistically and individual structures. Serving as the foundation, these assessments enabled hierarchical prioritization of conservation value. Integrated with contextual analysis of Macau's World Heritage Route and the district's periphery, this process established strategic planning positioning and informed functional reconfiguration through renewal design.
  • Ma Kok Waterfront District Visitor Centre Design with Heritage Interpretation Based on the heritage value assessment, hierarchical prioritization, and functional reconfiguration of the Ma Kok Waterfront District, a specific plot was selected for the newly constructed District Visitor Centre. This facility serves as a catalyst for interweaving and consolidating the cultural and historical heritage assets throughout the Ma Kok Waterfront District.
