Reconstruction of Edifício D.ª Julieta Nobre de Carvalho Block B and C in Macao and Renewal Design of Surrounding Space

On urban and community level, the design releases the ground space to the public, as inserting “community balcony” and walking bridge that connects different buildings, merging building and community, indoor and outdoor spaces, creating microclimate, boosting and activating the usage and vitality of the community. On architectural level, suspended structure system is purposed, switching loading direction of the buildings, and linking all concrete cores of both buildings together to form a big structure as a whole which reinforces the building structure and makes it more flexible for interior space layout. On resident unit level, the design takes RIS system as reference, using modular “living box” for the floor layout, makes it more flexible on space organizing, also providing variant possibilities for the future transformation of the buildings.
